A water softener removes minerals that cause hardness from well or tap water to make it soft and prevent scale deposits on everything that contacts it. Industrial twin and duplex water softeners differ from the same systems designed for domestic applications in capacity. They are able to treat large volumes of raw water to maintain uninterrupted production.

Some models provide a flow rate of 4,9 m³/h, keeping up with high demand. They do not waste water. Also, the volume capacity is high, showing a large amount of calcium, manganese, and iron (when ECOMIX filter material is added) that can be removed. They clean themselves less frequently due to larger quantities of resin.

As to an operating mechanism, the raw water is forced through the media that removes dissolved minerals and exchanges them with sodium. As a result, at the output, you have quality soft water with an improved taste. When the resin is saturated with minerals, the regeneration is launched to flush calcium and other contaminants from the media and send the waste to the drain. The only difference with a simple descaling system is that the soft water supply is not interrupted during this process, because while one tank is regenerated, the other continues to operate.
