What water treatment system is best for my kitchen equipment?
While all of our water treatment systems purify water for use in your kitchen equipment reliably, the perfect choice depends on a number of factors like the following:
- How many appliances will use the purified water?
- How high is the daily consumption of the purified water?
- How big or small is the space available for a water filtration system in your restaurant?
- What quality does the inlet water have in your restaurant?
If you’re unsure about the best water filtration setup for your restaurant, we’d love to help you.
-
Will water treatment improve food & beverage taste?
Yes, it will.
Tap water usually contains impurities or might be chlorinated depending on where you live, all of which interferes with the taste of the dishes and drinks you prepare in your restaurant.
In order to achieve next-level taste in the food and drinks you serve in your restaurant, we recommend pure water that’s been filtered to remove any impurities.
A great starting point for this would be one of our reverse osmosis filters like the RObust 1500 or the RObust 4000, which are eco-friendly and provide great purification results that will elevate the taste of your dishes and drinks.
-
Do I need to use a tank with your water purification systems in my restaurant?
While it’s not strictly necessary to use a tank when using our commercial water filtration system in your restaurant, we do recommend it for certain use cases: For example, using a tank for the water used by your coffee machine helps to average TDS levels in the water, which results in consistent coffee flavour.
We recommend installing a tank in all cases where our reverse osmosis filters are connected to additional devices.
-
Are your products for restaurant water treatment smart?
While many of our products are IoT-ready, our current solutions for the food and beverage industry aren’t smart.
-
Can I achieve the TDS levels needed for specialty coffee with Ecosoft?
Yes, you can achieve the TDS levels recommended by the SCA with Ecosoft water treatment systems.
The SCA recommends a TDS level of 75–250 ppm, although it’s important to note that the composition of the Total Dissolved Solids has a significant impact on the taste of your coffee.
With its combination of calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg), the RObust COFFEE creates water that’s optimized to enhance the unique aromas of coffee.

Do your filtration products achieve SCA-compliant water for coffee making?
Yes, you can achieve SCA-compliant water with our products.
Our direct flow reverse osmosis filter RObust COFFEE was specifically designed for coffee making and delivers SCA-compliant water through four steps:
Step 1: Pre-filtration
Mechanical impurities, chlorine, chlorinated compounds and natural organic substances are removed from your inlet water.
Step 2: Membrane filtration (RO step)
The water is pushed through a semi-permeable reverse osmosis membrane to remove 99.8% of dissolved impurities, including viruses and bacteria.
Step 3: Special coffee cartridge
Now the water is enriched with calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) to enhance the aromas of the coffee brewed by your baristas.
Step 4: Post-carbon filtration
In this final step, the water is purified one last time to remove any residual odours that might impair the taste and aroma of your coffee.
But even if you decide against the RObust COFFEE for whatever reason, you can combine one of our reverse osmosis filters in your restaurant with sediment filters, water softeners and mineralisation cartridges as needed to achieve the water quality recommended by the SCA.
If you’re unsure how to do that, we’d love to help you plan the ideal water filtration system for the coffee station in your restaurant.
-
Do you have any RO filters specifically designed for restaurants?
Yes, we do.
The RObust 4000 was specifically designed with restaurants in mind: the ultra-compact direct flow reverse osmosis filter purifies water to ensure it doesn’t damage your dishwasher or other restaurant equipment.
The RObust 4000 is designed for continuous operation of up to 20 hours per day, has a great recovery rate of up to 60–65% and provides up to 3l of purified water per minute.
Apart from that, many of our restaurant clients happily use some of our other RO products for water filtration in their restaurant:
- RObust Mini: direct flow RO filter with enough performance for small places like cafés at a very reasonable price
- RObust 1500: direct flow RO filter with a high flow rate, perfect for cafés, hotels, offices, schools, laboratories, dental offices, private homes, and more.
- RObust 3000 MAX: direct flow RO filter with a high flow rate, designed to supply purified water to various kitchen equipment such as ice makers, steamers, ovens, dishwashers, water dispensers, and more
